Signals of Taiwan

Service and other blue signs.

No, there isn't an information sale happening. The blue sign means it is 45km to the information centre at Sale, Vic. The sign above it is one of the tourism signs that was part of the "You'll love every piece of Victoria" campaign. The photos on the sign show Tarra-Bulga National Park, Wilson's Promontory and Walhalla Goldfields Railway.

The Billabong, Vic.

Typical example of a services information sign. This one showing public toilets, picnic tables and barbeque facilities.

Stratford, Vic.

Food and accommodation facilities. Considering this is an exit to Morwell, I'm sure they could've found other services to fill the blank space on the right.
Information centre 4km.

Sale, Vic.

Information on right.

Dargo, Vic.

Information bay on left. This sign shows the older symbol for information.

Heyfield, Vic.

An unusual sign. Green "S.G. Highway" (South Gippsland Hwy) and blue "Town Centre" with assorted blue signs pointing to other services nearby.

Foster, Vic.

Picnic area 300m. Interestingly, this sign has an old state route 180 shield riveted over one of the symbols referring to a facility no longer available (toilets? barbeque?).
The route shield is now obsolete as it is now A440, and B440 before that.
Accommodation available. This sign, being located on the right-hand side of the road just after passing under a railway bridge meant it was not all that obvious. In fact I'd driven past it for years without noticing it. It has since been removed due to the property being sold and the new owners not wishing to continue as a business.

Stratford, Vic.

Another accommodation sign. The signs here are too closely spaced, especially as most traffic has just turned left as it passes them.

Stratford, Vic.

Flemington Racecourse, Vic.
Blue State Route Shields. SR180 (South Gippsland Hwy, now A440)

Woodside, Vic.

SR188 (Hyland Hwy, C482).

Minniedale (section now closed to the public)

OD9 - Overdimensional Route 9) sign and lookout sign.

Hazlewood, Vic.

The all important toilet block sign.

Sale, Vic.

Health Services sign with brown tourist information above and deteriorating black and white direction sign below.

Rosedale, Vic.

Pages 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6.
